Tracker: Justice Department Requests for Voter Information

The Brennan Center for Justice is tracking Justice Department demands for voter information.

As of August 7, 2026, they say:

The DOJ has sued Washington, DC, and 30 states for refusing to provide their statewide voter registration lists with driver’s license and Social Security numbers. DOJ’s cases against Washington, DC and 20 states – Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin – have been dismissed.
